Early wake up!
we are on our way to Palenque ruins, not far away from the town centre, the scenery and the temple are just amazing !
They were built mostly by king Pakal and his son around 700 AD, the location is the first moutain to rise from the lowlands.
The temples are surrounded by jungle where we can hear the noise of howler monkees. Magic !
The main temples had been covered by jungle for centuries. It´s only in the past 60 years that the temples have been uncovered and restored.
After a 4 hour visit, we take the van to the Agua Azul falls to take a swim, one can only be speechless when seeing these, take a look at the pictures...
Finally back to Palenque and to the Zocalo where we meet a local sculptor. We'd seen him the previous day to place a special order... a medallion made of obsidian volcanic stone representing the sun and the moon with gold reflection when facing light. Wow!
